3 Coastal entryways

I love a subtle coastal theme. Not anything too overpowering where you walk in and feel visually assaulted by everything screaming “beach.” The best coastal spaces feel welcoming, relaxed, and easy to be in, without being overwhelming. This starts with the entryway, the first place people enter the home and get a sense of your style and vibe.

The first entry is a coastal cottage–inspired entryway. The textured geometric wallpaper is the most traditional coastal element, with lovely cornflower blues and a pattern that has a bit of a trellis feel. The rug is a lovely beige floral from Ruggable, and it’s also easy to wash, which makes it especially practical for a beach house.

The oval shelf would be a great spot to display beach finds and other collected treasures. Placed opposite the console, the bird mirror adds to the cottage feel with its antique charm. The vase with its faux maidenhair insert brings in a touch of softness and feels reminiscent of a wild cottage garden.

Baskets are always useful near the door for storing towels, blankets, shoes, and other everyday entryway essentials. The optional abstract shell/coral sculpture is another subtle nod to the beach without feeling too obvious or overpowering.

This coastal entryway has a nice balance of geometric designs and nature-inspired details. The geometric rug helps set a more modern foundation for the space, while still feeling soft and relaxed enough for a beach house entryway.

The large console works well for storage, which is always needed at the beach. It gives you a place to tuck away everyday essentials like sandals, towels, sunscreen, or dog leashes, while also helping anchor the space.

The soft watercolor leaves wallpaper in blue adds a lovely pop of color and movement. It brings in the nature-inspired side of the entryway and keeps the geometric pieces from feeling too structured or sharp.

The brass lamp adds a touch of warmth and elegance, while the stoneware pedestal bowl is perfect for holding keys, sunglasses, or other small items. Finally, the checkered vase adds another subtle geometric detail, helping tie back to the rug while keeping the whole entry feeling layered, fresh, and relaxed.

The final entryway is centered around green. While blue and white is often considered the more traditional coastal palette, this design embraces a softer green direction for a fresh take on beach house style.

The geometric rug adds a nice pop of color to the entryway and helps bring in a more playful, modern feeling. The green striped wallpaper is simple, but the hand-painted texture gives it a soft, relaxed look so it doesn’t feel too crisp or formal.

The console has a wonderful beachy feel with its woven wicker look, and it also brings in plenty of storage space, which is always helpful near the door. It would be perfect for tucking away shoes, towels, bags, or other everyday essentials.

The vase of wood branches adds a subtle nod to driftwood, bringing in a coastal motif without making the space feel overly themed. It keeps the design rooted in nature and adds a bit of organic texture.

The mirror is the final touch that brings the whole entryway together. It adds shape, light, and a little bit of polish, helping the space feel finished while still keeping that easy, relaxed coastal feeling.
