Hello, I’m Amber, a surface pattern designer based in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. With degrees in Art History and Graphic Design, it took me a while to discover surface pattern design, but once I did, it felt like the perfect fit for my interests and creative instincts. I’m especially drawn to color, shape, and the way repeating patterns can bring personality and atmosphere to everyday objects and spaces.
I work in a variety of mediums, both digital and traditional. While I genuinely enjoy learning new design software, most of my work is created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or starts out the old-fashioned way on paper. Exploring different tools and processes helps keep my designs fresh and continually evolving.
This blog is a place where I share my work and my process. You’ll find surface pattern design explorations, interior mood board designs, my pattern collections, and tutorials connected to my digital products. Many of the tutorials are geared toward other surface pattern designers who want to develop their own patterns, workflows, and creative ideas.
